Mieko Shimizu

This truly innovative performer, vocalist, producer & multi-instrumentalist builds beautiful sound clashes & dysfunctional beats live in front of audiences in a uniquely stimulating way. Mixing live samples with gadgets & machinery, Mieko creates musical landscapes that have to be seen and heard to be believed. Mieko has been commissioned as a composer and producer for various organizations and projects and one of her works was recently features on Channel 4. Amongst many musical achievements Mieko has released three solo albums and founded the electro-ethno project ‘Mekong Zoo’ with Japanese violinist Aska Kaneko. She also created the experimental Drum ‘n’ Bass project ‘Apache 61’ with which she toured extensively across Europe.
